RISEUP was invited to investigate claims of paranormal activity in this location by two female employees who work in the building. Both have an avid interest in paranormal research and have conducted a number of EVP sessions on their own there. Many of the recorded clips they have submitted to us have been quite compelling and we eagerly accepted an invitation to conduct a more intensive investigation of the building
Using a more unconventional approach in an attempt to resolve some existing issues and perhaps get a fresh perspective, we have decided to invite our friend and clairvoyant Sandra Lindsay along on this investigation. We have worked with Sandy on other occasions and appreciate her respect for our methods and approach to the field. Sandra was not told the address of the location until she was in Barrington and contacted us via her cell phone. She has no prior knowledge of the location, the claims or the results of our previous investigations. She was accompanied by a gentleman known to us only as 'Eddie', who also lays claim to having psychic abilities and is honing them under Sandra' tutelege.

As stated, psychic Sandra Lindsay would join us tonight as we have chosen (for us) a most unusual method of gaining insight into this location. We hope Sandra can use her gift to corroborate some of our prior experiences here and open new lines of communication with whatever entities might be present. We will cross-check any and all information she provides to gauge its authenticity.
Investigation
We began with a walk-through by Sandra and allowed her to state her impressions of any energies or personalities she sensed there. There was a fairly accurate assessment of the specific type of work performed there which was interesting as the neither the layout, design or furnishings really speak to the true nature of the business. There are however, a few pictures of clients that adorn the walls, so the possibility of suggestion has to at least be taken into consideration.
When we arrived at the corner office, Sandra told us of a male presence there with a personality that was exceedingly arrogant and demanding. This parallels the impressions of those who work there, particularly the female who occupies that space. She had complained of the sensation of being touched inappropriately on a couple of occasions by something unseen. (While no one in the office claims to be intuitive in any manner, we believe the impression of a dominant, entitled male figure is one that is based on assumptions of a 'cause-and-effect' nature.)
As we sat down to conduct an EVP session, Sandra began to 'channel' the male spirit, answering our questions in his own words and sharing some insight into his background and mentality. Eventually, she used Eddie as a type of conduit for his messages. He was portrayed as indeed arrogant, entitled, well-educated and accustomed to having his way. Both psychics claimed he was quite agitated at the inquiry and felt it was beneath him to have to respond. Our lines of questioning then began to take on a more demanding nature in an attempt to extract more information that we could hold up to scrutiny as we continued our research into the history of the building and those who occupied it.
It must be noted that while we do not commonly enlist a psychic in our investigations, we will lend an ear to their impressions with the complete understanding that these impressions will not be taken with absolute certainty. They will be subject to comparison with factual documentation or first-hand testimony to determine their veracity.
After spending some time in the main offices, we went down the hallway to the adjacent suite, where we had captured some rather interesting audio recordings on our last visit. In the reception area of the suite, we allowed Sandra and Eddie once again to relate their impressions to us. Sandra was spot-on in her feelings that this particular area was once used for military recruitment purposes in WWII. Eddie was adamant in his assessment that there was once a large presence of Polish immigrants in the area. (The was a large immigrant population in this neighborhood, but it was predominantly Italian. FYI - Eddie is of Polish heritage).
There were impressions that someone who worked in the office had lost someone very close to them recently. This could not be confirmed by our hosts, who most likely would be aware of such a thing. There was also a sense of a foreboding presence in one of the back corner offices. Again, there were no claims of anything malevolent occurring there or any way to corroborate this impression. We did conduct audio sessions in each of these areas for a significant amount of time, but nothing turned up upon review.
There were three interesting clips we picked up from this session. The first is a Class B that after analyzing and re-listening to wants us to leave the area. One of our hosts is walking in the hallway addressing someone when the recorder captures this voice at 0:03.
The second clip displays some level of consistency in the content of what we are recording here recently. In the last investigation we clearly captured some singing in this suite. Tonight we were treated to another musical interlude in the same location. Our recorders are running and all 6 people present are gathered in the reception area assessing the evening's events so far. The building is completely empty as is the parking lot which is clear view from where we are assembled. The moment is caught at 0:05.
We are still in the process of trying to identify the songs we are hearing to determine a time frame for their popularity or their appeal to a particular age. This is difficult as best with the quality of the recordings and the technology available to us. There is also a groundswell of opinion centering around this being Native American in origin, but most likely that is too extreme a scenario.
Beyond what has been presented, nothing more overt took place this night. There were voices reported, but nothing that our recorders or camera microphones were able to document.
Special Addendum
As we continue our exploration into this building, we continue to receive audio clips from the two women employed there conducting their own investigations. Because we have taken steps to conceal their identities for professional reasons, we would like to present these recordings and include them in the case file. The first was recorded in the same area where the small child's voice has been captured on many occasions. This, to us, is one of the finest, clearest recordings we have ever heard. There is some debate as to what exactly is said here, but it is along the lines of "Who (owns?) (wants?) this." This is a fascinating piece of audio.
The second submission was recorded on Dec. 11, 2010. The two ladies are in the adjacent office suite having a casual conversation. At one point you will hear laughter. Neither woman is responsible for this.
Both these ladies have the type of jobs where integrity, honesty and professionalism are paramount. As we have gotten to know them over the past year, we are aware how seriously they take this and they have solicited advice, opinion and guidance from us on a regular basis as they have proceeded. Our mutual respect and friendship is such that neither party would concoct or collect evidence haphazardly or with any serious question about its authenticity. We are convinced what we receive from them is without taint or lack of genuine consideration for its content.
Conclusion
Bringing in intuitives proved to be an interesting experiment and in truth, broke the monotony of the investigative process for us a bit. The evidence we collected has grown our case data to a level that makes the location a prime target for further investigation. The decision to take a less technical approach to our investigations seems to be paying dividends. We're happy to say we have been made welcome there whenever our schedule allows and our two hosts could not have been more generous with their building and their time. We owe them a great deal of gratitude.
There were hits and misses on the part of the psychics as is normally the case, but we did gather a few names we need to run a check on to determine if we should proceed in that direction. The burning question still centers around the identities and origins of those who may remain here. Are they attached to the location from the time it was an institute of education, a remnant of the land it was built on or are they former clients of the current establishment who came here for comfort, care and understanding?
There are indications that if intelligent and conscious energies still roam these hallways, they for the most part seem content and in some cases, even playful. We can, of course, only surmise what they see or hear and indeed what keeps them here, but this building stands as a prime example of why we invest our own energy into this type of research. We are looking forward to our next visit with great anticipation.
